Rose essential oil, meaning either rose otto or rose attar (attar of rose, attar of roses), is the essential oil extracted from the petals of Rosa Damascena Mill. through a process called steam distillation. Depending on the climatic condition during harvesting season, the quality of the fresh rose flowers varies and influences the production yields. Thus the raw material needed for production of 1 kg rose oil,  balances between 3000-4000 kg fresh roses. Nowadays Bulgaria has more than 300 years traditions in extracting rose oil from the precious rose flowers and the production process benefits of numerous improvements: equipment and technology upgrades.
